About Me

Hello! My name is Jacki Lorio, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with nine years of experience providing social work services to the community. My specialization in trauma-informed care and grief counseling allows me to assist individuals and families through challenging transitions and emotional hardships. I am committed to offering compassionate care to a diverse client base, including significant work with foster children, foster/adoptive parents, and birth parents.

Professional Experience

I have a rich background supporting those facing trauma, grief, and complex family dynamics. My expertise extends to crisis intervention and mental health challenges, particularly assisting individuals with chronic, life-limiting, and terminal illnesses, including cancer, and clients with head and neck issues like tracheostomies and laryngectomies, based on my experience at Our Lady of the Lake Head & Neck Center and Voice Center.

Additionally, as the Grief Program Manager at The Retreat at Quarters Lake, developed by The Hospice of Baton Rouge, I played a pivotal role in transforming the new facility into a thriving grief center. I was integral in designing and implementing the program, developing comprehensive curricula, workshops, and support groups, alongside a specialized curriculum for a children's grief summer camp, ages 6-17

Therapeutic Approach

I understand the unique grief and challenges experienced by different individuals and utilize Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), ice breakers, activities, and reflective imaging to foster a trusting therapeutic environment. I address the profound impact of various forms of loss, recognizing grief exists beyond the loss of a loved one, including job loss, divorce, parental deployment, infertility, etc.

Education

I earned my bachelor's degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and my master's degree from Louisiana State University. My client-centered, holistic approach ensures a safe space for exploring emotions and developing effective coping strategies.

Private Practice

Through my private practice, I empower clients to achieve personal and therapeutic goals, enhancing their overall well-being.
